“Freud and Asia. Evolution and Change: Psychoanalysis in the Asian Context”

IPA Members and IPA Candidates can now register for the IPA’s first conference in Asia, on the occasion of its100th anniversary. The event ‘Freud and Asia. Evolution and Change: Psychoanalysis in the Asian Context’ will take place in Beijing from 22nd to 24th October 2010.



All societies and groups working in Asia: The IPA China Allied Centre, Israel Society, Indian society, Japan Society, Korean Society (Study Group), Taiwan Centre for the Development of Psychoanalysis, Australian Society, and PIEE and IPSO and COWAP will be represented.

Coming together in Beijing



Groups are being organized to offer a place for the exchange of experiences during the conference aiming:

- to open communication about different national psychic heritages.

- to enable a more personal acquaintance between the members of the Asian psychoanalytic groups and IPA members from other regions.

The groups are organized by Xu Yong (Shanghai) and Tomas Plaenkers (Frankfurt)

A Cultural Program will take place from 18th to 21st October.



The cultural program is organized and conducted by Alf Gerlach (German Assn.) and will focus on Chinese history and culture and on the encounter with psychoanalytic thinking.
